Long over Due

I have been slacking this weekend in blogging, but it was for a good reason ;) We have been cleaning and shopping getting around for our friend Deb to get here today!! She is our first visitor sense moving to the island a little over four months ago!! We are pretty dang excited to have her!! The only thing I am nervous about is getting tired from being pregnant so I hope I can keep up. We decided to
make one last large purchase before our baby girl gets here. We bought a couch that rocks and reclines on both sides. We were originally looking for just a chair that rocked to put in the living room for when Audrey gets here but we fell i love with this concept. We wont have to fight over who sits in the rocker ;) and the cup holders and center that lifts up was perfect. So we moved around the living room to make room for the couch. I think the living room looks WAY more inviting how we have it set up now! Eric also got the surround sound he has been wanting! So now we are set up for movies and to rock out little girl to sleep when she comes :) So back to my post with 30 days worth of question. I should be answering question 4 today but have slacked.
So today I will answer questions 2-4 so this post may be a little long ;)

2. Describe 3 legitimate fears you have and explain how they became fears.
Spiders- I have always been afraid of them. They are creepy and I just cant do it!

Being a bad mom- I am pregnant with my first so I think this is a normal fear?

3. Describe your relationship with your parents.
We have had our ups and down as any relationship does but they are good parents and I miss them terribly :( I wish that this island was closer to home especially being pregnant it would be nice to have them around and I am truly sad my mom wont be there when I deliver. Its not what Ive envisioned sense I was a little girl :(

4. List 10 things you would tell your 16 year-old self, if you could.

1. Do NOT waste your time on a certain boy ;)
2. Learn to let go
3. Relax A LOT
4. Don't buy a grand am... you will have to fix it a lot lol
5. Follow your heart as far as what you want to do in life
6. Don't be shy, have some fun!
7. You can't fix everything or everyone and it is not your fault

Anticipation!

I am getting excited for many things!! My friend Deb arrives on Monday and will be here for a week! I am so excited to have a little slice of home here. I have been pretty home sick lately so I think this will help :) The day she arrives school starts. Sounds dumb but I get super excited when classes start. I know this semester will not be a cup of tea being in my last trimester and delivering Audrey during the semester. I am finally at a University and getting closer to completing my bachelors and moving on to the next step in my life.... so that excites me!! I feel like life is REALLY going to start flying by. Deb for a week. School starts and I will be babysitting my next door neighbors little girl. Couple weeks after Deb leaves Eric's mom is coming to visit. by time she leaves we will be into October. First weekend in October is my baby shower.... its by Skype but I am still SUPER excited. It will be SO nice to see everyone's faces I have not seen in what feels like AGES! I am getting so excited and nervous for my little girl to arrive. I wish more than anything my mom and dad could be here with me to experience it but I just got to enjoy the moment and wait for them in January!! I am getting pretty excited....lots to look forward to!!

Yesterday I met a bunch of new military wives. I went out to lunch with a friend names Allison. She was super sweet and her son was adorable!! Then Katherine had me meet some of her friends at the pool here on Helemano. It was a good time and was nice getting out and meeting more people! My legs got burnt though haha. I am off to go for my daily 2 mile walk with my friend Katherine!!

A walk around our neighborhood

Eric and I like to take walks together, its one thing we have always done. He convinced me to take my camera with me and just take photos :) We were talking about how many different trees there are in Hawaii. So Here are the many trees on just our walk around our neighborhood. I also took pictures of the buildings around us too.

This is the row of houses we live in. Ours is in the middle.
This is the Tennis and basketball courts right outside of our house. Behind it is a playground as well.

This is Eric's and I's favorite tree. This is a small version of it but it reminds us of a tree you would see in the Lion King. The HUGE ones are soo pretty!!

These are my favorite birds here. I couldn't get close to them today but they look like little white cranes.

This is the fire station. This building it right down road from our house. Its the first building you hit during our usual walk.

This is the Chapel and workout facility. They have a pretty nice gym. It even has racquet ball courts :)

 This is the teen lounge.
 This is the childcare center.
Another picture of the childcare center!

This is the pool attached to the back of the workout facility. We haven't swam in this pool yet.

This is the Shoppette where we can buy a lot of groceries and such.

The valley that you see here is the one that the Japanese used to attack wheeler air station during Pearl Harbor!
On the way back from the movies yesterday Eric noticed pigs on the side of the road. He demanded I let him out so he could take some pictures! He was cracking me up!

This is our little home. It is really nice because we are not on base but a military reservation. People still have to check in at a gate but we are away from the hustle and bustle of the base. We love where we live. It still has all the amenities of living on base but it feels like more of a family area than base. Schofield Barracks where Eric works is only about 5 miles away!

Bachelor Pad

I finished catching up on all the episodes of the Bachelor Pad last night. That show makes me giggle because everyone is lying to everyone. I don't think I would ever go on a reality show! I want Chris to go home! He is such a jerk! The lady's there are all psycho too lol.

Anyways, my shoulder has been killing me lately. I am not sure if its from Audrey or what but its been terrible. Eric came home last night with a heating pad for me, a rose, and some chocolate. I would say I have a great man. Poor guy bought ghirardelli chocolate with carmel... only he bought the dark chocolate version. I hate dark chocolate, he was soo upset when he realized. It was such a sweet gesture though <3

I have been wanting to make banana bread so I finally found a recipe I am going to try. Eric is pretty excited! I love cooking! If only it didn't cost so much to buy a billion ingredients.... especially here in Hawaii. Every time we get groceries our bill is at least $150!!

Banana Hazelnut Bread
makes one loaf + about 2 muffins
    adapted from Williams-Sonoma
6 T butter (3/4 C), at room temperature
1 C sugar
3 very ripe bananas
3 eggs, lightly beaten
1/2 C low fat buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 C whole wheat flour
1 C all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder

                                                                        1 tsp baking soda
                                                                        1 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
                                                                        1 tsp ground cinnamon
                                                                         1/2 tsp salt
                                                                         1/2 C chopped hazelnuts {or pecans/walnuts}
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and spray a 9X5 loaf pan with Baker's Joy {or grease and lightly flour}.
Beat the butter and sugar on medium speed in a mixer {with flat paddle attachment} until creamy, about 1 minute. Add the bananas, eggs and vanilla and beat until smooth. Add buttermilk; mix on low just until combined.

In a separate large bowl, mix together the flours, baking powder and soda, nutmeg, cinnamon and salt. Add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and stir just to combine. Fold in the chopped hazelnuts, do not over mix. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan {and muffin tin}, bake for 55 to 60 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.

My mom forwarded me an email that had us laughing.... what do you all think ;)

PUBLIC TOILET

This is a picture of a public toilet in Houston
.... from the outside:
Now that you've seen the outside view,
take a look at the inside view...

It's made entirely of one-way glass!
No one can

see you from the outside,

but when you are inside

it's like sitting in a clear
glass box!

Now would you... COULD YOU....???

We both decided that more than likely we couldn't pee in this toilet. I would be too nervous people could really see in. The whole time I would be going the bathroom I would be scanning peoples faces to make sure they were not indeed looking at me. My mom said she would be waving to make sure people wouldn't be waiving back lol.

The good, the bad, and the gross

I have been talking to my Good friend Trisha from back home over facebook chat. We have been laughing about all the stuff that people never tell you about pregnancy. The discharge and the kicks to your vagina and bladder. How you wake up and cant see cause there is so much crap in your eyes and you have to sit in bed trying to get your eyes to work properly. She then told me how her ultrasound tech told her that her baby was definitely a boy and he had a big penis. We decided that someone needs to put together a book of stories written by woman about their pregnancy. I am positive every woman has at least one funny story they could share during their time pregnant. I can only imagine the stories that woman would submit... I would definitely buy it!

Eric and I have been watching White Collar. It is SOO good. I am addicted!! It takes all my self control not to watch it while he is at work ;) BUT I am being a good wife and waiting!!

Yesterday Eric informed me he heard on the radio that Lady Antebellum was coming to Hawaii. I got SOO excited because no one ever comes here. I found out its Lady Antebellum, Darius Rucker, and Thompson square! That will be an amazing concert and they come next month! I need to hurry and get us some tickets. I am super excited!!

Kahe Point Beach

Today we went snorkeling at Kahe Point Beach aka Electric beach. Kahe Point is nicknamed, Electric Beach because of the electric power plant located nearby.  The electric plant outflows clean warm water through two giant cooling pipes offshore.  At the openings of these pipes the water temperature is several degrees warmer than the surrounding ocean.  The warm water attracts scores of sea life. I have been afraid of snorkeling ever sense I got bit by a jellyfish lol. Normally I do not swim out very far but today I decided to suck it up and enjoy the day.

We both slathered on sun screen and we both ended up looking something like this lol. Eric had an actual hand print on his shoulder. Guess next time we will be more strategic about it. I stayed in the shade and still ended up with some burns. The sun was deff out today!

After we went snorkeling we went to Outback Steakhouse. YUMM I had a steak and some broccoli. Audrey thought it was delicious... she told me so ;) Also this morning my parents went up to the hospital where Eric's uncle is. My mom brought her Ipad so we could Skype them for first time sense being there. It was nice to see them especially after all that has happened to them and I am thankful I have such great parents to even offer driving an hour to do it! Eric and I have been watching all the Bourne movies to refresh on them so we can go see the newest one. It has been a great
weekend! I am glad I got out and enjoyed the day with my husband! Now it is time to lay down and cuddle and find something to watch on netflix!

We made it!

Eric and I have officially been married a year! Our anniversary was everything I had hoped it would be! Time has flown by and I know it will go even faster once our little bundle of joy makes her appearance into this world! Yesterday was my surprise to Eric sense he did his on Sunday.

When Eric first entered the house there was a sign stuck to the door. It read " We have weathered through the first year! Happy Anniversary"

When he entered the house there was rain drops hanging from the ceiling. On each rain drop I had written something we can be thankful for. I had thunderstorm music playing in the background. It was cute because I was hidden behind the corner and I got to hear his reaction cause he didn't know I was there :)

I decided to not waste the rose petals he used on my surprise so I reused them with mine :) I also made his favorite peanut butter cookies. I had a glass of milk waiting by them as well.

The rose petals lead to our room where another sign was hanging that said "Now lets celebrate"

I had balloons all over the room in the colors of our wedding. I had a friend pick them up and bring them over when Eric was at work so he wouldn't see them :) She had bought a dozen the night befor and they all had fallen to the ground by the next day. She had to pick up 12 new ones on the day of the suprise. I never knew they lost helium so fast!! On each balloon was a photo within our year of marriage. I had random photos and some of our wedding and Audrey's ultrasounds.

On the bed I had put together two jars. One said "hooked on you" and had gummies in it. The other said "Reasons I love you" and contained mini Reese's peanut butter cups. On the bottom of every Reese's was a reason I loved him :) Then I printed off two tickets to see a movie... which was a movie I had rented with some popcorn. I also had boughten two cards. One funny and one romantic ;)

I loved seeing the smile on his face as he got to each thing. I would have to say it was pretty fun coming up with ideas of things that didn't cost money but would show how much I loved him. More than likely next year he will be deployed during our anniversary so it was important to show him now how much he means to me. I never imagined my life to be this joyous and everyday he brings more! Today we have officially been married over a year... I cant wait to see what this next year holds for us!

                                                         I LOVE YOU ERIC ELLIS
